CENTRAL TELECOM SUCCESS IN NATIONAL BUSINESS AWARDS
Burton-based Central Telecom has joined household names including the BBC, Egg plc and the Royal Bank of Scotland after reaching the final stages of this year's National Business Awards 2002.
The company, which is one of the UK's leading suppliers of integrated telecommunications solutions, reached the last ten in the competition, which recognises those organisations that have demonstrated the most exceptional financial returns, strongest growth and innovation strategies, plus market leadership in their sector over the past 12 months.
The Awards, organised in association with Sky News and sponsored by Orange, are a new initiative aimed at promoting and showcasing excellence and achievement across the whole of the British Business Community.
And whilst Central Telecom did not reach the final shortlist of five, it was singled out for praise by the judging panel and received a special 'highly recommended' classification in recognition of its continued expansion and market development. Over the past twelve months the company has reinforced its domination of the telecoms market, despite severe market competition and a volatile economy.
It received a listing in the world prestigious Deloitte and Touche Fast 50 Technology Awards and was recently voted Channel Network Company of the Year by the telecommunications industry itself.
And in a bid to capitalize on emerging technologies within the rapidly converging financial services sector the company has recently established an operating base on Cannon Street in London.
"On behalf of the judging panel I would like to pass on our sincere best wishes and congratulations to Central Telecom on their achievements and success to date," commented Monica Piercy, from the awards organizers.
"The judges were taken aback by the calibre of entries, which was extraordinarily high and found it hard to make a final decision."
"Although Central Telecom were not selected as one of the five finalists, we wanted to recognise their success and have, therefore, awarded them the classification of highly recommended company," added Monica.
The final five finalists are Egg plc, the Royal Bank of Scotland, BBC Worldwide Ltd, Sage UK Ltd and the Direct Line Group, who go forward to the final round of judging, which takes place later this month. The winners will be announced at London's Park Lane Hilton on October 29 2002.
More than 1,900 nominations were received across 21 categories with entries from organisations ranging from leading blue chip companies to brand new ventures. The winners will be announced at London's Park Lane Hilton on October 29 2002.
"Whilst we are disappointed not to be in the final five, we are delighted to be viewed in the same league as major names such as the Royal Bank of Scotland and Sage," commented Marketing Manager Julie White.
"Our challenge for the next financial year is to strengthen our domination of the telecoms sector, increase market share and profitability in order to take our place in next year's final of the National Business Awards," added Julie.
