CENTRAL TELECOM AWARDED MARKETING RECOGNITION FROM NORTEL
Communications specialists Central have been awarded a special Marketing Excellence Award by Nortel, a global leader in internet and communications.
The company, whose headquarters is on Wetmore Road in Burton-on-Trent and has regional offices in London and Guildford, was given the accolade in recognition of the achievements of its in-house marketing department in the promotion of Nortel products and services.
Managing Director Andrew McDougall and Marketing Director Julie White were presented with the award by Tony Bailey, vice president, UK & Ireland channels, Nortel at Nortel's PartnerFocus, which took place recently in London.
Central's marketing team is renowned throughout the telecoms industry for the innovative marketing campaigns that it implements across both public and private sectors. The company's activities cover the whole spectrum of the marketing mix and range from PR campaigns and live events to press and radio advertising and direct marketing initiatives.
It supports its client base with a range of complementary literature, including magazines, product and industry news and product updates. This is supported by a website and innovative e-biz portal, which provide a unique service to anyone requiring information about the telecommunications industry.
Over the past 12 months a series of Focus Groups and Technology Forums have been staged as far afield as Lapland and Barcelona. Dedicated seminars, forums and workshops are also organised for specific industry sectors including the NHS and Local Government.
The company recently unveiled its 2005 seminar season with a series of communications Roadshows set to take place at Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Oulton Park.
Tony Bailey, speaking at the recent Nortel PartnerFocus, explained just why Central had been singled out for this special marketing award:
"The best ideas are often the simplest and in this case, Central's sales and marketing team knew that they wanted to develop a strong referral business with their existing customers, as well as find new customers."
"Perceived by their customers as experts in multi-vendor solutions, they developed an integrated campaign of seminars, newsletters, case studies, fact sheets and advertising, to ensure that that both the technical communities and business communities were linked into the latest Nortel promotional offers, business tools and technical information.
"We would like to thank the marketing team at Central for its continued participation and investment in Nortel and look forward to continue working in partnership with the company to deliver the best business solutions to our customers," added Tony.
This award from Nortel for marketing excellence follows hot on the heels of a number of major accolades for Central's marketing department, which is headed by Julie White. At the end of 2004, the company's scooped a coveted award at the Corporate Events Association Awards in recognition of its 2004 Roadshows.
"Central's in-house marketing department is renowned as one of the best in the channel and is a match for any external agency, so we are delighted to receive recognition for our efforts from Nortel," commented marketing director Julie White.
"The marketing team works hard to devise and implement a range of innovative and informative campaigns that enable the company to manage and retain existing customers and secure additional income from their existing investment.
"Our proactive campaigns continue to play a key role in the Central's continued growth. Turnover topped the £20 million mark in 2004 for the first time in the company's history and is on target to reach £24.5 million in 2005," added Julie.
