CENTRAL TELECOM LISTED IN REGION'S TOP 50

Burton-based communications specialists Central Telecom have been recognised for their outstanding growth, performance and contribution to employment creation by being listed in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards.

For the fourth consecutive year, Central, whose headquarters is The Maltings on Wetmore Road , has been named as a Fast 50 Company for the Midlands and the North.

Historically, two separate programmes have been run for the Midlands and the North; however, this year they have been amalgamated to form the Midlands and North region, which makes Central's achievement all the more noteworthy.

The Technology Fast 50 Awards recognise the fifty fastest-growing technology companies across the two regions, based on percentage revenue growth over five years (2000 - 2004). Participants can be public or private and working within various facets of technology, including communications, computers and peripherals, internet, semi-conductors and software.

Companies included in the Fast 50 have demonstrated innovative strategies, sound management practices and marketplace vision.

Marketing Director Julie White collected the award at a special Awards Ceremony, hosted by TV personality Paul Ross at Mere Golf and Country Club in Stoke-on-Trent.

"Achieving sustained revenue growth of over five years is a tremendous accomplishment during a difficult period for the technology sector," said Chris Robertson, Technology, Media & Telecommunications Partner for the Midlands and North region.

"We congratulate Central on becoming one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the Midlands and North region; Central's exceptional growth puts it in select company," added Chris.

"We are delighted to listed in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards, which are widely respected both within the industry and in the wider business community," explained Julie.

"To be listed for four consecutive years is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of our continued growth and success within what is a fiercely competitive industry."

Central was founded in 1985 and is now firmly established as one of the UK 's leading integrated communications specialists. It implements leading edge communications solutions across a diversity of market sectors and has more than 6,000 managed accounts and more than 250,000 end users throughout the UK, ranging from SME's to blue chip and public sector organisations.

Partnerships with all of the industry's major players enable Central to exploit the latest technologies and deliver total communications solutions tailored to customers' individual voice and data requirements. This involves the integration of telephony, computing, voice processing, data and messaging network services, plus a range of cabling and support services.

Over the past 12 months turnover and profitability have continued to exceed all expectations in the face of severe market competition and turnover is on target to top the £30 million mark during the current financial year.

This latest accolade is the culmination of major awards over the past six months for Central, which employs more than 190 staff at its Burton-on-Trent HQ and regional offices in Guildford and London . The company recently scooped double honours at this year's Channel Network Awards and was runner-up in the Marketing Strategy of the Year category at this year's National Business Awards.

It has just reached the final of the Corporate Event Association Awards for its programme of live events and is a finalist in the Best Use of Technology category at this year's National Chamber Awards:

The Fast 50 programme, now in its eighth year, tracks the growth rates of technology companies operating in the telecommunications, hardware, software and biotechnology markets across seven regions in the UK and Ireland . It is co-sponsored by UK law firm and technology specialist, Pinsent Curtis Biddle, Apax Partners and the London Stock Exchange.
