CENTRAL TELECOM LEADING THE WAY IN EUROPEAN IT EXCELLENCE
Leading UK business communications specialists Central Telecom has reached the finals in 3 categories of the European IT Excellence Awards.
The European IT Excellence Awards are the first pan-European awards which recognise the crucial role that Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and Solution Providers play in the delivery of real world solutions, attracted entries from more than 30 countries. Entries were submitted by ISVs and resellers describing the solution provided and each had to be supported by an endorsement by the client.
Central, which employs more than 250 staff at its headquarters in Burton-on-Trent and regional offices in Guildford and the City of London, are the only company named as finalists in three categories: Pan European Solution, Unified Communications Solution and Vertical Market Solution.
As a market leader in the field of convergence and IP Telephony, Central has demonstrated their unique ability to create solutions, which address the needs of their clients across a diverse range of market sectors.
Central provided an IP telephony solution allowing Discovery's 500 employees at their London HQ to operate video to desktop programme monitoring and scheduling for the first time. The solution has been used as the centre for all European operations with Central extending this in a phased approach to 7 locations and 400 employees across Europe.
Cambridgeshire County Council's new converged IP network has allowed the Council to implement a Unified Communication's solution into their organisation achieving a true business transformation, meeting its objectives to develop an empowered and responsive workforce, whilst delivering more than 20% (£1.2m) savings over a three year period.
The Vertical Market solution addressed Sunderland City Council's vision to produce an exemplar community that truly reflects how ICT and emergent technologies can make a difference for the citizen, for business and for the way in which government, both local and national can be more efficient and effective in its service delivery.

A total of 49 companies from 16 countries have made the finals of the European IT Excellence Awards and the winners will be announced at the Dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel, in Frankfurt on 7th February 2008.
